Clock Project
Initial Ideas and Sketches
I had a couple of ideas for my clock project. My first clock was inspired by the sky cycling through the the different stages of the day. I wanted to make the clock face out of different colored resin swirled together to represent the sky. For example, during dawn around 7 am to 10 am it would be pink and yellow and during the day, around 11 am to 4 pm it would be light blue. However, I gave up on this idea because I realized that 9 am would be the same as 9 pm and so this idea would not work. My second idea was also inspired by the sky. It was a sun and moon inspired clock where one half would be made of a silvery metal and would represent the moon and the other half would be made of a gold metal that would represent the sun. I gave up on this idea however because I didn't really like the design as much as my chosen idea and also because I thought working with metals would be a bit hard. My third idea was a "Journey Around the World" clock where there would be different iconic locations around the clock and there would be a character on the hand that would "journey" around the world. I also gave up on this idea because it was too difficult to do. Finally, my last idea was a cherry blossom and sun inspired clock. The center would be the sun which where the actual clock and hands would be, and it would be surrounded by a cherry blossom tree which is decorative. This is the idea I went with.
